Heroes of Newerth by S2 Games

The custom map for Blizzard’s Warcraft III, known as Defense of the Ancients, or DotA for short, has changed the face of online gaming since it was first created, nearly ten years ago. It has grown steadily in popularity since then, and has spawned a entirely new genre of game, known to some as the Hero Based Real Time Strategy (HBRTS) game. Whilst DotA has only ever been a compartment of the Warcraft III engine, many game companies have decided to ride the popularity of the genre and release stand alone games. However, the name on everybody’s lips is currently Heroes of Newerth, designed by S2 games.

Heroes of Newerth and Defense of the Ancients, are, for all intensive purposes, the same game. Heroes of both games are almost entirely identical, as are the item upgrades and the layout of the default map, including the boss creature, Roshan. However, due to being able to program their own engine for the game, S2 have been able to improve the gameplay of Heroes of Newerth to a degree that was not possible with the Warcraft III engine, and, as such, Heroes of Newerth stands above and beyond it’s great forefather. The mechanics of Heroes of Newerth have allowed players the ability to play in an more improved and balanced environment, that values individual teamwork over individual skill and/or plain luck.

Gamers have classified different heroes in both games as either carries (usually extremely powerful late game and can change the tide of the match), tanks (can take a lot of damage before dying), disablers (have abilities which can silence, stun or render other heroes impotent) and support (have abilities which can buff their team mates to make them more powerful).

Some of my favourite heroes in Heroes of Newerth include:

(1) Chronos (known as Faceless Void in DotA) An absolutely unstoppable late game carry hero.
(2) Slither (known as Venomancer in DotA) A very versatile support hero/damage per second hero.
(3) Witch Slayer (known as Lion in DotA) A solid disable hero, who has a very powerful nuke attack.
(4) Predator (a hybrid version of DotA’s Naix) An amazing late game carry hero/tank.
(5) Puppet Master (entirely new hero) A new addition to the game which is a solid carry hero.
(6) Madman (entirely new hero) Another new addition to the game who is a great disabler/damage per second hero.
(7) Tempest (known as Enigma in DotA) Perhaps the most effective disable/support hero in the game.
(8) Scout (a hybrid version of DotA’s Dwarven Sniper and Bounty Hunter) A very powerful late game hero with great hero vs hero killing abilites.
(9) Accursed (known in DotA as Lord Avernus) A very strong tank who has many uses as a support hero.
(10) Pebbles (known in DotA as Tiny) Another very strong tank, who can be used as a support hero.

The Growth of DSL Internet With Online Gaming

Online games have been one of the most attracted hobbies in the internet now. More and more people are getting into online gaming, because it gives them a lot of fun. Why it is that an online game is fun to play than a local game? First of all, a local game can be played by a single player only. It can be played with more than two players, but only within a single area. If you are familiar about a game called Defense of the Ancients (DOTA), it is a 5-on-5 local game that players are playing against each other within a single area.

In other words, they can only play in a single computer or gaming shop. They are using an Ethernet connection called Local Area Connection (LAN). The wire was plugged into the local computers within a gaming shop for them to allow play against each other. What about if we compare them to online gaming? You will see the big difference between a local game and an online game later on, and you may evaluate which one is better. For games online, it’s truly recommended that they need some sort of internet connection. Most games are using an internet connection called DSL.

DSL is one of the fastest internet connections today, and it was widely used by lots of internet users and online gamers. Without DSL high-speed internet, we can’t play games online. If we stay connected using the DSL high-speed internet connection, we can play against other players nationwide, or even worldwide. Compare to limited players in one gaming station, online games may let you interact with other players from around the world. You may enjoy playing with them through team battle or any type of battle you want. This is where DSL internet grows for their customers, especially games online.

If you have lots of time to search on the internet, there are thousands of local and international online games that exist to the public. The market of both DSL internet and online games has been growing as fast as possible, and may grow even more in the near future. Both of them are making serious income from their customers through recurring and prepaid payments. But what is the reason for all online games that need DSL connection, rather than the others? If speed really matters for them, a high-speed DSL internet connection is good for them.

An average speed of DSL internet would be up to 3 megabytes per second. It is faster than wireless or cheap dial-up modems. Wireless internet is not really designed for us to play games online, because it can only pick up signals with the use of wireless antenna. It may give them a greater chance to be interrupted by the connection, and it’s not recommended for online games. But with DSL high-speed internet, you may experience playing games smoothly and it gives pure entertainment like no other. This is how a high-speed DSL internet grows to the public, along with games. Not only they are designed for gaming, but also for fast browsing and digital file downloading.

Multiplayer Online Games: Group Fun, Group Adventure

Gaming enthusiasts surely must have heard about the latest craze over the past decade – multiplayer online games. Ever since the popularity of RPG’s and MMORPG reached the peak, there seems to be always a big game debuting every month. It looks like the competition among the makers of multiplayer games is getting fierce to have a bigger piece of the market. To do that, they always come up with new and exciting titles to entice gaming fanatics.

Multiplayer online games are the type of games that allow anybody to play with other players or against them. Depending on the format of the game and its rules, there is usually a mission that you have to fulfill or a goal to complete in order to advance to the next level. If you are playing against another player or a group of players, they may keep you from achieving your goal. They do that because they have to get there first or because your group is also becoming hindrance to their goals. To settle things, you have to compete with them and make sure that you beat them or you would be the game’s sore loser.

However, it is also possible to have other players working for you. This is called making an alliance and combine forces to build a strong group and achieve a single goal. You help each other in beating the enemies and everybody else that could post an obstacle to your objectives. Technically speaking, this is how multiplayer online games work and playing them can really be a big adventure. Try it today and see how you will fare against other players of varying expertise level.

There are different types of multiplayer online games available. The most popular ones are the action and role-playing games which integrate certain fighting strategies and stuff similar to that. Military-themed multiplayer games are quite popular too, like in CounterStrike, DOTA, WarCraft, and others. However, there are a lot of simple ones available as well, without the necessity of downloading anything at all.

Multiplayer online games require strategy in order to excel in it. You won’t be able to be an expert on these games in just one day. If you are looking to play this type of games, you better prepare yourself for a long adventure ahead. And try to make friends as you learn. You will also need the help of other players in order to achieve your goals.

If there are many multiplayer online games for males, female players also have some made especially for them. Good examples are Farmville and Cityville as both of them are offered by the social networking giant Facebook. Try to log-in to your account and play them to have a feel of it. Here, you can invite your friends to join and play with you. Multiplayer online games are indeed more fun and exciting than playing alone or against the computer. Surely, nothing beats a good game shared with friends.

Free Internet Games – The Best Games Are Free Online

Playing outdoor games are always part of our culture. Nothing can beat the feeling of a game that was won. It makes our bodies strong too when we play active sports and that is very beneficial. But sometimes there are times that we do not have the time to play outdoors because of many factors. It could be the weather, your playmates are not out there to play or you just feel like staying home and take the moment of rest. But do you know that you can still play the game you want even if you stay indoor? Thanks to free internet games. Now, you can play soccer, basketball, ice hockey, car and motor bike racing at the comfort of your home.

Today, the internet has already seeped into our culture and almost every home have their computer while most people in the developed countries have their personal internet connections as well. This is why the internet games have also become part of our culture and today almost 50 percent of people who have their computers and internet play free internet games. The boom of internet games has already reached its peak but the number of games are still growing as new games are being introduced everyday.

Racing games are very popular and arcade games are hot too. These two lord it over when it comes to free internet gaming because this is where your blood can boil with ultimate pleasure and exhilaration. One of the free online games that has gained so much popularity is The Age of Empires: Conquerors Campaign. Its design, interface, the logic and the challenges make it as a standout among other arcade games. Dota: Defence of the Ancients is also another role playing game (RPG) that is a favorite and played worldwide.

Another free internet games that has reached a historical milestone is the Prince of Persia. With its excellent scheme, unbelievable challenges and spectacular backdrop made this online game one of the most favorites among all internet games since it was released few years ago as an interactive game.

Online gaming does not recognize boundaries, race, culture and religion. Its main purpose is just to be there on the game, interact with other gamers and you are ready to play. Online games are addictive and that is a fact. Unfortunately, sometimes this reality can have a negative impact on other kids because parents forget to get in control of the children’s use of computers. So as a parent, we must also realize that although free internet games can give our kids time to play and enjoy their free time, we should tell them that in gaming in excess can also harm them in many ways.

Computers as we know have their glares in them so this could hurt your kids’ eyes if they are exposed to it for prolong period of time. Online gaming can also take the children’s focus on their studies. The kids may also tend to copy or overreact with what they see on their games and this is not always helpful. As an adult, we must always guide our kids to be responsible gamers and must always remind them that internet games are there for their convenience. But we must also remind them that they should only play with moderation.

Warcraft 3 Custom Map “DOTA” Fastest Growing Competitive Online Game

DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) is a multiplayer third person action strategy. The game it stems from is a real person strategy with a base and various unit building structures. In the regular game there are heroes but they are accompanied by the army that you build using the resources you harvest. Defense of the Ancients is a different game altogether. It is Strictly hero based with auto armies that spawn for both teams.

Each team consists of up to five players. Most competitive DOTA matches are five vs. five. Each team has a base with three entrances (mid, top, and bottom). At each entrance spawns of armies called ‘creeps’ are created and sent toward the enemy base. Your hero then follows and the idea is to gain entry into the enemies base and destroy it. These are the basics of the game but there is much more that can be done throughout the game.

At the beginning of each game, the host can choose the game mode. There are many game modes, the most common being allpick or allrandom. There are over 90 heroes to choose from in DOTA, allowing for many different combinations of teams. Each hero has a unique set of skills that can be leveled up throughout the game by gaining experience. One of the best components of DOTA is the amount of different hero combinations and weapons that you can buy. Each hero has a certain class: Strength, Agility, and Intelligence and the amount of stat points in each category will vary from hero to hero. The possibilities are virtually endless for trying out new heroes with different weapons.

Dota is a very competitive game and is great for anyone that wishes to get involved in a game that is fast paced, and loaded with different possibilities each team you play. I personally have logged 200+ hours with this game over the last couple of years. All you have to do is purchase “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos” and then purchases the expansion pack “The Frozen Throne.”

Hope to be teaming up with you soon!
